This year is, for us, the year of whisky festivals. Along with our own Whisky Show, which is shaping up to be even more impressive than before (which was pretty impressive already), we’ve also been the official retailer for Whisky Live London, and The Whisky Lounge‘s Brighton and Newcastle festivals. The good news is that The Whisky Lounge (TWL)’s nationwide tour is ongoing and we will be travelling with them around the country, helping to fulfil their mission of bringing whisky to the people.
However, our next jaunt with them is a little closer to home – London, on May 18th and 19th.
The Saturday event, May 18th, will be their usual blend of whisky and fun, with a room full of drams, masterclasses and a few bottles hidden under the various counters. We’ll be at the back of the room running the shop, with everything available to taste at the show on sale. It promises to continue their tradition of a laid back and fun festival for people at any stage of their whisky journey, from newbies to experts.
The Sunday is going to be a little different…
Jam & Dram is a new event that TWL have come up with in conjunction with Joel and Neil from Cask Strength Creative. Whisky and music have often gone together, but with Dram and Jam TWL are taking things a step further with the ambitious notion of pairing drams with bands.
The day will be focused on blended whisky and will be built around showing how a blender selecting components is like the various members of a band pulling together to create a sum greater than its individual parts. Expect musical interludes from three whisky industry bands, blending classes and a mini-bottle of blended whisky to take home with you.
To give everyone even more of an incentive to come along to one (or both) days of the festival, we’ve acquired a bottle of whisky to give away as a prize to one lucky ticket holder. To enter, go to this special page on the Whisky Lounge website and buy a ticket – after the show we’ll throw all of the names into a hat and choose one person to receive a bottle of Berry Brothers Glen Grant 1974.
We’ve sold out of the whisky (although we do have a sister cask bottling still available) but during the short time we had it in stock it sold for about £140. It didn’t last long…
So, head on over to the competition ticket page, grab a ticket and then make sure to come and say hello during the weekend – we’ll be there all weekend and should have another competition running during the show…
